I guess you're referring to the supposed medicinal properties of
saltpetre (potassium nitrate) as a suppressant of sexual desire? This
is a misconception.

Saltpetre is more commonly known as an ingredient of gunpowder - and
you only need to sprinkle a *bit* on the shreds of paper.
