Is the House-Elf thing also a parody of the traditional "Upstairs,
Downstairs" depiction of British servants, who are (stereotypically,
anyway) so brainwashed that they *like* being the oppressed inferiors
of "Sir" and "Milady" and are scandalized if someone of "rank" (like
Hermione) treats them as an equal? Of course I'm not sure if this is
real or just how they're depicted in British movies and TV...
