I could see the Slytherin's asserting that Harry was responsible for
Cedric's death and made the Voldemort story up. Malfoy's gang has already
shown that they won't let something like the truth get in their way. Some
of the other students might buy into this as well, if they believe the
Rita Skeeter story that Harry is a very disturbed young wizard. This all
might fit into the "choices" that Dumbledore referred to in his year-end
talk to the students.
