Seems to me we're trying very hard to keep that number down. There's no
reason to think the Hat does anything but put people where they ought
to go without regard for anything else. The Hat has told us so. Given
that, the numbers in the houses are up in the air depending on the birth
rate and the personalities who show up with Hagrid at the front door. I
respect the arguments Penny and others have put forth, but 300 is really,
really small.
