Saying that Harry is the "last" heir of Gryffindor implies that he will
never have children. Saying he is the "sole" heir of Gryffindor existing
means that there is no other direct descendent of Gryffindor now living,
but allows for future children.

I wonder if Voldemort is capable of having offspring. He's obviously
not quite human anymore, but may still be capable of siring an heir with
some suitable henchwoman. Yech...
