And remember the rule of logic calld "Occam's Razor": The simplest
explanation that covers the facts is the correct one. With respect, your
explanation requires some gyrations to get the Sorting Hat to put equal
numbers in each house. Why is that notion more appealing than taking the
Hat's word for it that it puts the students where they ought to be? (And,
by inference, letting the chips fall where they may on numbers)
