This name has had me puzzled for ages. I can't find a decent Bulgarian
dictionary online, no chance of finding one in my local library, it's
not Russian and I have no idea what it means. It's not even an obscure
English word. However, I don't think it has anything to do with 'crumb.'
I haven't noticed any misleading names in HP, actually. Normally they
contain insights into character (which is why I spend so much time with
the dictionary trying to work out what they mean).
So, if anyone here knows what Krum means in any language, I'd love
to know!
