Ouroboros? I know that this is the earth serpent who botes his own tail,
encircling the underworld. Might be the same/ similar critter.

The World tree in Viking mythology is Ygddrasil, and it's roots are
chewed on by a serpent, that threatens to destroy it- but I cannot for
the life of me recall the name of this serpent if it comes to me I'll
drop you aline.
