I think Harry just gave her the key and a letter of permission, and this
was just an omitted detail. After all, we never actually saw Hagrid
return Harry's key to him after the first visit, but Harry obviously
has it later. A more interesting question might be, who was the trustee
who kept the key for Harry for ten years? Dumbledore? Did he give it to
Hagrid when he sent Hagrid to fetch Harry ?
