We had a bit of discussion a few weeks ago about the ages of the various
Weasley children. I think I posted that I believed that they are basically
all 2 years apart, except for Ron & Ginny, who are only 1 year apart. I
did find confirmation that the twins Fred & George are 5th years in POA,
which is when Ron & Harry are 3rd years and Ginny is a 2nd year. See
page 61.
I haven't seen confirming evidence yet, but I do think most likely
Percy is a 7th year in POA. Was there mention of his graduating? I
can't remember. I would think Head Boy would be a one-yr (final yr)
sort of position.
Another question from my re-reading of POA. Hermione mentions that
her birthday is coming up in September, when they were all buying their
supplies (she uses her parents' birthday money to buy Crookshanks). Would
she be nearly a year older than Harry or is she in fact 2 months
younger? In Texas at least (and I *think* elsewhere in the US maybe), the
cut-off date for each school year is Aug 31st. So, if works that way in
Britain, I guess Hermione would be one of the "older" ones in her class
(as was I with my Nov birthday) and Harry would be on the younger side
with his July birthday. Can any of our UK members comment?
And, it still bugs me that we don't see Harry *giving* any presents. She's
just mentioned her birthday -- I'd think they would show Harry picking up
some gift in Diagon Alley to give her later on her actual birthday. I
think I mentioned before, but we see Harry receiving Christmas and
birthday gifts from Ron & Hermione, but I don't see him *giving* any
gifts, which strikes me as odd for some reason.
