"They include more details about Laura Cantwell. The Mail on Sunday says
she's from Fairfax, near Washinton DC (not NYC or Virginia)."

Virginia is due south of DC, so I guess Fairfax is near the border,
but it is in Virginia.

I guess the Mail on Sunday thought people would be more likely to have
heard of Washington, as it's the capital! (an example of the British
dumbing things down...)

Talking of the Mail on Sunday, there's a piece in the Times interview -
I think - where JK Rowling is talking about a friend of hers phoning her,
in the early days, to let her know that her ex-husband had sold his
'story' to the Mail on Sunday. Rowling's first thought was not what
the article said about her but to ask her friend, "what are you doing
reading the Mail on Sunday?"

The Mail on Sunday is politically right-of-centre, (as is The Times). JK
Rowling comes across as being quite left-of centre.
