(IMHO) and how are 10 year olds, never mind me - supposed to follow a
book that has a GLOSSARY at the back! Acck!
I loved THE LORD OF THE RINGS when I was 8 (it must have been the immoral
Ballantine paperback of 1966) and didn't understand it very well, and
loved it even more when I was 10 and understood it much better.
Except that I had nightmares about Black Riders for *weeks*.
When 8, I looked up to the big 10-year-old children who get to be squires
in the big battle. When I was 10, I thought "just like me!"
LOTR differences from HP: no humor! little daily life! and it's set in
the distant past.
