"are there any other teachers we'd care about if they died? What if
Snape is redeemed and dies? Hooch, Pompfrey, Sprout, Flitwick, Trelawney"

The rumour is that Snape will be redeemed but not until book 7. As to
the other teachers Flitwick I would care for and maybe sprout but the
others are hardly in it.

"Is Hagrid still going to be a teacher?"

I have been giving this almost as much thought as the death one. I hope
he still is a teacher but that someone takes him aside to point out
about lesson planning and to give him more confidence.

"So . . . isn't it possible it's someone we don't know yet, rendering
the conjecturing meaningless? "

Even if it is completely meaningless I still enjoy the conjecturing!
