>>>>Though Harry's adventures are obviously not religious instruction
books, they employ heavy use of Wicca symbolism, language and
themes. Wicca is now granted IRS status as a religion and the
Department of Defense supplies chaplains for Wiccan folks serving in
the U.S. military forces. "Harry Potter" is to Wicca what "Adventures
in Odyssey" or "McGee and Me" (fanciful Focus on the Family videos and
books) are to the Christian religion.<<<<<
Is it just me, or have they TOTALLY missed the point of the word
"fantasy"? I think there is a big difference between wizards and witches
of fantasy and Wicca. Personally I didn't see any sort of reference to
Wicca in the books, other than the term "witch", especially since they
celebrate Christian holidays. It seems to me that the foundation writing
these reports is a little upset at Wicca becoming an official religion,
and are lashing out. It is sad to see arguements made in ignorance because
you know there are other ignorant people out there who will believe it...
