Let's start on Friday, where my husband got in trouble the first time...

Friday afternoon, we were driving and he was on the cell phone checking
our messages. Conversation follows:

Chris: "Judy's called." (bookstore)
me: "Yah? Are they going to open early?"
Chris: "They're giving them out now!"
me: "What???????"
Chris: "Oh. Just kidding. Wait, the message isn't over yet."
me: silently fuming that he jerked me around like that.
Chris: "Uh oh."
me: "whatwhatwhat???"
Chris: "They accidentally didn't get enough copies and since you weren't
home, they have to give your copy to someone else."
me: -stony silence-
Chris: "Uh... I thought that was funny."
me: "You ASS!" (more expletives deleted)

So then, Saturday morning, I was up around 5am after a night full of
Harry Potter dreams, and after skimming through PoA until 7:30 (couldn't
concentrate), I left for Judy's, hoping to at least beat the line if
they weren't going to open up earlier than 10am.

I was not the first one there. There were two boys (about 11-12) standing
in front of the store with their noses to the glass, and a 20-yr-old
girl with green retro glasses waiting in her Honda on the street. So
I parked nearby with the news radio station on (for updates). Lo and
behold! Judy's opened at 8:39am!!!! I was the 4th person to get mine,
and I got some (very American) house sticker/banners, the Quidditch
World Cup iron-on badge, and a lightning bold tattoo! The woman behind
the counter asked me "You don't want these, do you?" and looked shocked
when I said "Oh! Yes please!!"

Got home at 9am, read (with another fight with husband stuck in there
somewhere) until 5:30, when I finished. I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to talk
about this with someone, and so I'm going to be here this afternoon for
the chat. If anyone would like to start early, I'd love that, too.

ps. Amazon didn't deliver my sister's copy, so I had to give her mine -
so as of now, my wonderful copy (which I've only read once, darnit!) is
an hour away, and I can't re-read it! Stupid Amazon.

Jen
