Hi:
<<<Does anyone know how many First Editions were printed by Bloomsbury
(UK) and the other publishers around the world?>>>
Bloomsbury printed 1.5 million in the first print run, and
Scholastic printed 3.8 million copies. These are all 1st editions, 1st
printings. Even with the larger numbers of first print runs than with
the earlier books, these are still valuable. I've decided to hang on to
my backup copy from amazon for investment purposes. <g>
All of the HP books are first editions at the moment. The distinction is
what print run you have. If there have been no changes to the manuscript
(even punctuation & spelling corrections) and they just re-run it as is,
it's a subsequent print run. When they make some changes, that's when it
would be a 2nd edition. Maybe someone more well-versed in the intracies
of the publishing industry can explain it better than I have.
What I want to know is: Are the publishers in a 2nd print run already? I
wouldn't be surprised, based on what the Houston papers are saying
(and Skimmel's report yesterday), there are few, if any, copies for
sale in Houston (4th largest city in the country). So, I can't *wait*
to see if the majority of the 3.8 million print run is gone.
Wonder if the NY Times Book Review thinks 3.8 million children bought
a copy for themselves last weekend? <g>
