'lo all. Yes, I'm a new to the whole Harry Potter craze. Bought the
first book a few weeks back, curious as to what the fuss was all about,
and thinking it was a simple children's book. How wrong I was. While
the text does seem simplistic, the story's is strong as a whole, and
while it's excellent for children, it's complex enough for adults to
enjoy. I have the first three now, and plan to get the fourth as soon
as payday rolls around again. lol As for what to call Potter fans,
well then. Hogwartans? Potterians? Dunno.

And on a different note, is anybody else familiar with the DC/Vertigo
comic book series, Books of Magic? It's about a character, Tim Hunter,
who learns he's destined to be the greatest mage in the world, only he
has many travels and troubles to deal with first. It starts out with a
group of known mages who arrive in London to seek out a 13 yr. old Tim,
who if he had his choice, would rather be skateboarding. He changes his
mind later on, and the adventure begins. The series recently wrapped up,
though a smaller series based upon it is to begin soon called, Names of
Magic. In a lot of ways, one could call Tim Hunter, a charcter created
by Sandman author, Neil Gaiman, a pre-Harry Potter, whose story is a
bit darker as a whole. In fact, the last issue of Magic includes a nod
to Potter, by showing a few panels of Tim holding a case, and reading
a familiar letter just before he leaps toward the barrier between Gates
9 and 10 at King's Cross, and disappears through it.
