LOOK OUT BELOW!!!!! SPOILERS
ACOMIN'!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for those comments on plot holes!

I've turned your order inside out, starting with the things that worry
me least.

(1) I missed Quidditch, too! JKR's flying scenes are terrific. Every
time Harry takes off, I get goose bumps. (His dragon-run was one of my
favorite scenes in the book.) Also, I was counting on matches staring
a clash between Harry and Krum. What a disappointment! (HOWEVER: I'll
bet anyone 10 Irish Galleons that Krum will be back next year and will
play for Slytherin.)

Actually, I was also sorry that the World Cup Final was so short--in
fact, I was dismayed that we were only getting to watch the final. I
mean, JKR, as a good writer, had to keep her plot moving, but a paltry
100-200 pages describing the the World Cup--from the round of 16 on,
say--would have been just fine with me!

(2) The scene with Moody didn't bother me much, although the whole
impersonation seems a tad contrived. (I.e.: did Barty-Moody set his
alarm clock to go off every hour during the night, to swallow some more
Polyjuice, or did he just un-transform?? And how come no one noticed that
the stuff in his hip fask was sticky??) But I'll swallow it. At least
the interview built on the rapport "Moody" really had developed with
Harry--despite being his enemy. I *do* think JKR is going to need to go
easy on the magical impersonations next book. First we had Wormtail faking
a rat, this time Barty faking Moody ... If anything, the problem with the
interview at the end of the book was that we knew Harry what was going
to happen. If it had happened *before* showdown, I'd have been more antsy.

(3) Your third plot hole does have me puzzled though. I was wondering
the same thing. Why not portkey Harry's slippers to big V's kitchen
table? Harry gets up for breakfast and tada!--big V scarfs him up! Seems
like an aweful lot of bother twisting the whole tournament around just
to get Harry to a portkey. This bothers me. Takes the whole point out
of the whole book! If we're going to make sense of this, we'll have to
find something about the final moment of the Triwizard Tournament that
makes it appealing as a trap.

- "Easy catch" theories. One sort of possibility has to do with
susceptibility. Either that competitors are less thoroughly protected
than normal or that Harry himself would somehow be easier to get.

- The other sort are "juicy catch" theories. For some reason, getting
Harry at that very moment would be more satisfying than at some easier
moment. For example, that V. wanted to make as frightening a display as
possible of his new power. Or that a triumphant Harry would impart more
power than a normal Harry.
