I agree with the young adult who said
"Is it possible that the magic of Harry Potter has simply become too
powerful?
Has it all become a contest of who can read the fastest and then prove
it by telling other people what they've read? If they finish the book
before you do, they may give away things that you had every intention
of finding out yourself.
Kids might feel as though they had to finish the book as fast as they
could just so they could say that they had finished it, and overlook
the actual story. Reading is supposed to be a pleasure, not a race. "

After seeing everyone rushing (and yes, that is the word, rushing)
to read HP like driving through a McDonalds drive thru, it makes you
wonder if they all (I know some are, though) getting the storyline? I like
McDonalds food, but I also like Fridays (sit-down restaurant in the area)
where you sit, eat, relax, and even eat dessert. Can't we approach this
like a box of chocolates (or if you don't like the Forrest Gump analogy,
a 1/2 gallon of my favorite--peaches and cream ice cream)? You treasure
each and every piece (bite/spoonful) and make it last as long as you
possible can.
I won't deny that I am going to read HP during my free moments. I rarely
get those free moments, and that will make it seem all more precious
to me.
Just a thought...slow down. Advice to myself as well!
