>URF! Maybe Nagini is Mrs. Voldemort. Now there's a snaky
thought.... Little Junior Dark Lords and Ladies running around
underfoot. Blechhhh!!!
The images of a giant snake with a woman's head gave rise to a character
in THE GOBLIN TOWER by L. Sprague deCamp (probably long out of print,
but the adults should read it anyway; it has way too much sex and
decapitation for the under-12s's parents) who transforms from a huge
but beautiful woman to a giant snake to constrict and consume any hero
who tries to steal the magic treasure.
The hero of this book, on seeing her in human form (and not knowing about
her other form) says: "What a pelvis! She could birth heroes!" and his
means of distracting her from guarding the treasure that he is trying
to steal is by going to bed with her. When he gets out of her bed and
steals the treasure, it doesn't slow her down much that she was wakened
from deep sleep, but he escapes by a trick that I won't give away.
Then he said to his wise but inept wizard advisor: "Suppose she has
my child? With her magic and my muscle, it could be a dangerous enemy"
and the wizard comforts him that humans and snake people are not inter
fertile.
>>>>>Nagini usually take the form of a woman with a snake's head or body,
but certainly a hybrid creature. I'm not sure what this means in relation
to the Nagini in GoF. Is she just a snake? Is she an animagus? If she
protects against evil how does that tie in with Voldemort? <<<<<<
I thought Nagini was just a magic giant snake. I never thought of an
Animagus until you mentioned it.
