'Git' isn't in my (concise) OED but the commonly accepted meaning is
the stupid person one. Hoever, when I was at school, we also claimed
that it,meant 'pregnant camel'. However, this could just have been to
assuage our guilt at using an unpleasant term of abuse, or failing that
an excuse when being told off by teachers...

(I'm catching up from *way* back ... sorry if anyone else has answered
this already.)
