Hi all. I joined the club the other day after reading 2. I only read
the first one a week ago and I just finished the fourth last night. I
absolutely have fallen in love with these stories. Now I have to be like
everyone else and wait for the next one. Oh well. I am so happy there
are as many adults out there that love these books as much as I do. I am
trying to get my 9 year old to start on them and she has started on the
first one. All the people I work with ask me "Isn't that a kids book?" I
try to tell them that Harry is someone we all can associate with. Even
as adults we all can feel what Harry and his friends feel. Feeling out
of place, confusion, real friendship and worry about the future are
not things that only children will feel. But as far as I am concerned
any story that will transport you somewhere else, somewhere you would
dearly love to be is a winner. And the fact that so many children are
totally into Harry gives me some hope. I will admit video games, tv
and movies are a large part of my families life. But then I have been
such an avid reader all my life and so are books a large part of our
lives. I like to see the fact that more children are reading more. And
I could care less if people are saying they are "evil" because of the
witchcraft aspect. What I consider evil are closed minds. Reading is
the best way in the world to open our minds and see into the hearts of
others. These books and any others can only help bring people together,
such as this discussion group. Just my thoughts. Shelly
