In THE GRAND SOPHY by Georgette Heyer (romance novel taking place in
England in early 1800s), the heroine ends up marrying her FIRST COUSIN --
who was ALREADY ENGAGED at the time she met him.

This one git of my acquaintance said that he was quite unable to enjoy
any of the funny things or historical research in the book because it
includes incest which is against his religion.
