Several months ago my Dad and I were watching Jeopardy's Tournament for
High School Kids. They got through the game, yadda yadda, and then of
course had the final question. The question said:
What current literary hero goes to school with the Motto: Something,
something, Draco, something, which translates into: The Brave Tickle
Dragons.
Okay, that's not exactly how it went, but my Dad and I were floored. We
saw "Draco" and immediately said... "That's gotta be Harry Potter,
but I don't remember reading about that in the books."
The final answer WAS Harry Potter, and none of the kids got it right
at all.
So, I had another American question for our English brethren across the
Atlantic. My Dad and I poured through the cover pictures, and all of the
books looking for a reference to Hogwart's School Motto - anything about
tickling dragons and we came up empty handed. Does the Hogwart's school
motto exist in the English books while it does not in the American books?
If no one can find the reference, I'm going to have to write to
Jeopardy. * wink *
