At one point I though that Durmstrang was in Russia or equally far
east, but just as Beauxbatons is obviously a French word or Derivation,
Durmstrang is obviously German. The farthest north that German is spoken
is near Denmark, but the area that speaks German that gets coldest in
Winter (the cloaks with Fur) is in the Alps. This means either the German
part of switzerland, Austria, Southern Germany (Bavaria) or the German
speaking part of the Czech Republic. Personally my bet is on Southern
Germany (Bavaria).
