Some people just don't have the choice of starting with the first
book! My sister is reading my copy of GoF because none of the other
books are avaliable. They are all gone from the library and I dare
anybody to find a single copy in any of the bookshops here! She says
that the introductions helped her out in understanding who was who and
what had happened, although I had to help her out a bit. I needed the
introduction as well. I've only read the first book before GoF (see above
for reason) and therefore didn't have a clue who Sirius was! And I had no
idea that the Malfoys had a house elf...didn't even know there was such
a thing. But I liked the way that most of those clues were mixed in with
the story so you didn't have a whole chapter of nothing but facts. Well,
any more than chapter 2 that is.
