<<"the size of the castle's dining hall"
What constitutes big? It sounds as if each of the students has plenty of
space during a feast to spread out. You would need a table of at least
20 metres for 70 students. Add another 5 metres for the teachers table
and another 5 metres to give room to wander easily between the table.
This gives a room of 30m by 25m, which means nothing to me but sounds
fairly big. Remember the description if being made by an 11 year old
who has spent most of his time locked in a cupboard.
Cramped is not an impression I get from the description of the Great
Hall at Hogwarts.>>
When I think about the Great Hall, I think of something like the tents
in GoF and Holodecks in Star Trek (yes I'm a Trekkie, so there!) I would
imagine that there are magical properties that would enlarge the hall, or
at least make it feel bigger to accomidate(sp?) various numbers of people.
Does that make sense? (If not, just read my mind.)
