My point about using the Pensieve to extract the memory was so that the
authorities would have a VISUAL record of what happened when Voldemort
was reborn -- kinda like those police car video cameras that capture what
happens when a traffic stop goes terribly wrong. I agree that all Harry
would have to do is watch to remember the incident for himself. And
I believe it's a psychological fact that the mind FORGETS pain as a
sensation. Harry would remember that the Cruciatus Curse was used on him,
and he would remember that it was agonizing, but the mind and body don't
actually re-create the pain along with the memory.
