I'm tickled pink that this post originates in UTAH *smile*! I'd had some
of the same thoughts myself, especially when it came time to dress as one
of the characters -- and my daughter didn't look a THING like Hermione
*giggle*. I don't really remember the details from the earlier books --
but Book IV certainly mentions "Angela" a chaser on quidditch team as
a black girl. And I've had many of the same thoughts about Cho Chang
and others.

Even so, however -- I'd argue that Hogwarts' diversity is much broader
than you've noticed thus far! I mean - Hagrid is 1/2 Giant, Moody is
disabled, Ghosts teach classes, inter-ethnic marriage and dating seem
common (Voldemort and Harry are 1/2 muggle, Diggory asks Chang to the Ball
-- and didn't Fred Weasley ask Angela? I can't remember). Well ANYWAY --
I'm having a BLAST -- it's just (wailing) now I've got a WHOLE YEAR to
wait for more!! *smile*
