As a new member, I have been trying to go back and read some of the old
messages to catch up on what's going on...a very difficult task I might
say, since there are nearly five thousand messages.
I read a couple of early entries about who would play whom in the movie
version. And yes, I agree, it will either be wonderful or horrible,
but nothing in between. Here's what I think:
~Dame Maggie Smith or Dame Judi Dench for McGonagall. Both are very
British and very serious.
~If Danny Devito and Rhea Perlman were taller, they would make a wonderful
Mr. and Mrs. Dursley. They were great as the nasty Mr. and Mrs. Wormwood
in "Mathilda."
~Christopher Walken as Snape. He, like Snape, is hook-nosed and greasy.
I'm working on others.
~Kaitlin
PS--Has anyone read any of the Harry Potter translations? I read the
Spanish version of Sorcerer's Stone, and it was poorly done. All of the
great wordplay (Diagon Alley, O.W.L.s, etc.) is lost. Also, the name
"Dedalus Diggle" was spelled three different ways.
