Is it just me, or is professor dippet meant to be quite incompetent? He
probably forgot about the wand just as soon as he had expelled Hagrid
and managed to finish with the whole the chamber of secrets affair. Even
the competent teachers almost let the school get closed.
Oh the bad english.
Even his name suggests he is naff. Dippet? What does it mean - it is
rather close to dippy - if you ask me.
Also - the taking of Lockharts wand wouldn't have fitted in with the
story - they were in a race against time to sae Ginny's life, never mind
scour the field for a wand that Ron had had no practise on.
Look at what happens when ANY powerfull spells have been used on Ron's
wand: He set things on fire, it whines, whistles - sparks, makes people
burp out slugs, explodes...
I think ANY magic disturbs damaged wands, and Hagrid uses loads of it
pn school jobs, doesn't he?
And - even if we don't hear his Umberella whistling and sparking now,
think about what it would be like if it was newly snapped. You'd have
thought a 50 years ago slytherin would have spotted sparks and flames
issuing from an umberella and lighting up magical creatures and not told
the head teacher? Hah. I don't think it was ever broken, to be quite
honest with you.
I am not going to give up.
The day is young.

PS. Come on Neil, give me a hand!
