I think this is a good idea. All the dorms off one central landing area
with you having the same one for the seven years. You keep the same dorm
and the opne that had year 7 in it changes to being the one for year 1
the next year.
It is the fact that they found their dorm so easily that leads me to
suspect there is only the one for the boys in Gryffindor. If there were
two they would have to work out which one is theirs and this would have
been mentioned as Neville would probably have gone to teh wrong one.

Is this from a film? You make it sound as if I should know it! McGonagall
strikes me as someone who wants a good average performance from her
students. I am sure she would do more to get the three to work if they
were the only males in the year as the average grade would be quite
low. Having said that Ron says they still get reasonable grades!
