Salut again !
There's this thought that has been nagging at me for some time, and I
want to share it with you so you can all call me crazy and explain why
I am obviously wrong !
Maybe it has already been expressed. If so just send me packing and
remind me I should check the previous messages !
And again I have to say I haven't read GoF.
Apart from the fact that James was not Muggle-born, we don't know anything
about his family. We can even presume that he has no living relatives
or Dumbledore would have sent Harry to live with them and not with the
Dursleys ( and Hagrid would have contacted them too and not only James
and Lily's friends when he made Harry's photo album).
And when I read Tom Riddle's description ( tall and jet-black haired ),
my first thought was : just like James !
So my question is : what if James was Voldemort's son ? To be more
precise, what if V had fathered James and never recognized him, so that
James would bear his *mother*'s name ? ( If so though, they would have
a very weird tradition of orphaned boys in that family)
I can even get crazier ! Maybe James's mother died when he was young, and
he went to live with a family whose son would become so close a friend
that they would seem as close as brothers : Sirius Black's ! After all
it isn't said that James and Sirius met at Hogwarts.
If this theory is right, it might even begin to explain *why* V wanted to
kill James *and* Harry but not Lily. It could be that there's some kind
of power in their genes ( maybe related to V being Slytherin's heir )
that could somehow be used to protect James and Harry from V.
And there's one last point I would like to make. We don't know exactly
how old James was when he died, but he was probably somewhere between 20
and 25. But we know that V had reappeared for 11 years by that time. So
could it be possible that V had appeared precisely at the time James
had begun attending Hogwarts, and perhaps even *because* of that ? Maybe
he hadn't realized he had a son until then or something, and he had to
hurry up his plans to gain power in order to be strong enough to attack
James while he was still quite young and not too experienced and strong
(obviously he couldn't attack him at school because of Dumbledore, and
the boy would have had protection during the holidays, like Harry has).
Wild isn't it ?
Please someone tell me I'm crazy because that's how I feel anyway <g>.
Hope I made sense.
A plus !
