WARNING: Possible minor spoilers ahead:

-- Personally, I'm starting to feel that picking Chris Columbus for
the movie is a big mistake. I think Tim Burton or M. Night Shyamalan
(the guy who did "The Sixth Sense") would do a better job with it. But
then I'm holding further criticism until the film comes out.
-- If half-Brit/half-Yank (though more Yank than Brit) Liam Aiken is
cast as Harry, there would be a huge uproar of criticism particularly
from the British press and a lot of "Harry Potter" fans who feel the
ONLY way to go is an UNKNOWN BRITISH actor. I say give the kid a chance
and hold all criticisms until you see the movie. (Remember, Anne Rice
lambasted Neil Jordan for casting Tom Cruise in "Interview With The
Vampire" but changed her mind after actually seeing the movie)
-- For the role of Professor Trelawney, there's only one actress for
the job: TRACEY ULLMAN
-- In "The Goblet of Fire", Voldemort makes a reincarnation in the
end. The actor to play him in the movie (I hope anyway): GARY OLDMAN.
-- Who do you guys think should compose the "Harry Potter" theme for
the movie version? I can only think of five people who are up to the
challenge:
a.) John Williams - If you heard his "Home Alone" score, you'd know why.
b.) Danny Elfman - He is sure to capture the "dark" and "weird" mood of
the wizarding world.
c.) James Horner - He composed the score of "Titanic". Hands up anyone
who wants to hear Celine Dion belt out a ballad during the closing credits
(LOL).
d.) Rachel Portman - One of the very few women film composers working
in Hollywood today. (Her "Cider House Rules" score was beautiful).
e.) Randy Newman - He composed the score to "James and the Giant Peach,
in addition to "A Bug's Life" and the two "Toy Story" movies so I think
he's up to the challenge.
