As someone who has lived on both sides of the atlantic I just want to
add my twopennyworth to the above topic.
British children are actually heavier on average than they have ever
been and health professionals are worried about this.but saying that:-
A: we eat smaller portions on average here.People going to america are
warned about the huge portions to be expected. I had the hugest sandwich
once which took me two meals to get through and that was without the
optional pickles and crisps (chips) which I thankfully turned down.
B: most people I know still walk quite a bit I for instance walk four
miles to and from school each day which means that my children do two
miles. We meet others on the way and the children enjoy walking with
their friends.
Unfortunately as nice as it can be we are also eating too much fast
food and more people are dropping their children off at school by car.
So as nice as it is to think of us a slim fit nation i,m afraid its
not as true as it used to be
but the food Harry and co eat is probably full of carbohydrates which
they then burn off. As for potatoes I love them in all forms they are a
stable part of our diet, my favourites are roast and lyonaisse. !!!now
i,m hungry...again.
