I flew to Edinburgh today to check out all the likely locations for
Hogwarts, and while I was there I managed to slot in a meeting with
some clients.

Edinburgh is beautiful, partly because most of the buildings are fashioned
from vibrant beige stones (don't ask me what they are - ironstone?) and
have wonderful towers, castellations and other architectural bits
and bobs.

I saw one college in lush green grounds, with four square turrets, but it
wasn't on a hill. Then, of course, there *is* Edinburgh Castle itself,
which is clearly on a high hilltop and which has a very fairytale
hotchpotch look about it. It is rather centrally located, close to
local amenities and in need of some work, but the style is just right
for Hogwarts.

This slender material is my evidence for the fact that Hogwarts is just
outside Edinburgh, behind some particularly large trees...
