Salut ! ( which BTW means Hi )

One Marauder per house ? I'm not sure that would be possible.

For one, when and where would they have met ?
The students seem to keep mostly to themselves inside each house : very
few double classes (Potions with Slytherin, Herbology with Hufflepuff,
do the Gryffindors even get to meet the Ravenclaws ? ), one table per
house in the Hall for the meals, a specific common room for each house
but no common room for the whole school. Of course, there's the library,
the grounds, etc, but those places are not as handy as a common room
where no teacher will come and bother you.

Moreover, I don't even see *why* they would have had to find friends
outside their own houses. Couldn't they find plenty of interesting
people among their fellow house residents ? No need to go and look for
them outside.
After all, up to PoA ( I haven't read GoF yet ), the only example of
intense *friendly* inter-house relationship is the Percy and Penelope
affair, and that's romance, not friendship, big difference (strangers
are always more attractive than neighbours, aren't they ?).

So I don't find it likely that the Marauders would have been from
different houses, even if the idea of "Four friends from four houses"
appeals to me.

But anyway, let's imagine that they did. How would I sort them ( but I
am *not* a Thinking Cap !). Huummm....
OK !

Peter is the easiest IMO : no courage, no loyalty, not really sharp-minded
since he needed all the help he could get from James and Sirius to
become an Animagus, so the only thing left is ambition and *that*
he has in great quantity : he did use any means to achieve his ends,
including betraying his best friends ! So, Peter would be a Slytherin.

Remus, now : courage yes, talent, quite a bit, but I think "just and
loyal, patient, true and unafraid of toil" is just his description ! So
Remus would very well fit in Hufflepuff.

And we're left with James and Sirius. Both very courageous, very
bright. Ah ah ! BUT when it comes to chivalry, James definitely takes the
lead : Sirius *pushed* Snape into a near-fatal trap, while James *pulled*
him out of it at his onw life's risk ! So James would be the Gryffindor
and Sirius the Ravenclaw.

James : Gryffindor
Sirius : Ravenclaw
Remus : Hufflepuff
Peter : Slytherin
