> I was also wondering. They never say anything about a tuition for
Hogwarts so how do the make money. Now I know this is the wizard world,
but they do still use money, even if it is galleons, so how do they pay
the professors. Granted they get their room and board, but I'm sure they
still want to get paid. Is it something that is subsidized by the MOM?
I think there is tuition to Hogwart's, but if so, there must be a
LOT of scholarship students. I don't really believe in the existent
of self-supporting schools, so I assume that there would be donations
from rich alumni (or simple auction of seats on the Board of Trustees)
and perhaps also subsidies from the MoM. I expect that the MoM collects
taxes --- that is something that governments so much love to do! Or they
might not need to collect taxes if they just 'mint' all the money they
need, having placed spells to prevent this from being inflationary....
A while ago, I said wizarding money 'probably DOES grow on trees. Very
heavily guarded trees.' and my friend Lee suggested that a Money Tree
sapling was given to each young couple when they married, and it would
grow up and keep growing a crop of money until either both of them had
died OR they got divorced. She said that would be a very effective way
to prevent divorces.
