Hi:

Glad to have you posting again Sarvalsha!

<The one thing that always bothers me though reading about the
celebrations is how little mourning is being done for the Potters. I
mean Voldemort's gone but at a great cost. And other than Professors
McGonagall and Dumbledore, all we hear about is how wonderful it all is.>

I hadn't really thought about that before. We don't really know too much
about the celebrations though -- maybe they are also lamenting the death
of the Potters even though they're celebrating the demise of Voldemort. To
bring up my religious allegory again, they are also IMO celebrating the
victory of a "savior" (not just Voldemort's downfall in & of itself).

<Another thing that I always notice about the letter thing is that even
though Dudley wants to know what's in the letters, when his father makes
him get the mail the day after the first letter arrives, Dudley tells
everyone another one has arrived instead of simply reading it. Not a
very bright boy, is he?>

I thought of that myself when I was re-listening to my Sorcerer's tapes
for the bazillionth time. Funny how you find something new or different
or funny each time you read/hear these books. :--)

I like the King Arthur parallel Danemead. Jumping ahead, but I've always
seen some King Arthuresque elements in the final dramatic scene in
the Chamber of Secrets. But, I hadn't ever thought about the fact that
Arthur lived an ordinary or deprived childhood as a sort of preparation
for his later greatness. Great point!
