A Knickerbocker Glory is a really massive ice-cream dessert, consisting
mostly of fruit, ice-cream and whipped cream, piled really high, with
a cherry on the top. Not useful as part of a calorie-controlled diet!

It comes in a certain type of tall glass (at least 12 inches high) which
splays out at the top, and you sometimes get a really long spoon to eat
it with.

I assume that the glass looks like the leg of a pair of Victorian
knickerbockers (the origin of the word 'knickers', BTW) - hence the name,
but that's a guess.

When I was a kid, this would be the ultimate dessert to have in any cheap
restaurant. To Harry, therefore, it would seem like the height of luxury!
