Ah, I love the comparison between Dan and Sirius. The sequels to _Little
Women_ are a couple of my favorite books - and Dan ends up to be one
of my favorite characters. I didn't notice the resemblance before now,
though. It makes me wonder - was Sirius in love with anyone (like Dan
was in love with Bess) that he could never have - like Lily, perhaps?

Anyway, I'm truly hoping that Sirius doesn't meet the same end as Dan -
I never fail to be newly disappointed that he dies at the end of that
book. :(
