So, if I get this straight. Time can be changed only if the outcome is
uncertain. Sort of like playing a record (for those of you who remember
what that is) and the songs are playing and you can move the needle
until it gets to the end and the automatic shutoff picks up the needle
for the last time and shuts off the record and resolves the ending. Or
maybe like hitting pause and rewind/replay on a videotape until the end
of the spool is reached and autorewind kicks in.
Is this related to the Heizenberg Uncertainty Principle where you can
not measure both the momentum and position of an electron with unlimited
accuracy at the same time? If you accurately measure the position,
you can't measure the momentum accurately and vice versa.
So if you resolve the actions of the characters, you can't travel to the
same place and change the actions. Resolution of the actions would imply
that you know their position in time and the events that have occurred
during that time (ie. momentum), you do not have any uncertainty. If
you don't know the resolution of the characters actions, you can change
the outcome via time travel.
I know this is a big stretch, but it does make me sound pompous
anyway. Perhaps I can get a job at Hogwarts. Afterall, Professor
Trelawney has them baffled and she has a job. Oh well, enough of
that. I just want my portrait painted and hung up in the Louvre. So
many opportunities and so much time ! Ha !
