Hi:

<Also, in the wand shop, Ollivander says that one phoenix provided
a feather for Harry's wand and only one other, which had gone into
Voldemort's wand. Could this phoenix be Fawkes? Is that why Fawkes came
to Harry's rescue, later?>

Do phoenixes die after giving up their tail feathers? If Fawkes was the
one who gave 2 feathers for these 2 wands, then why hasn't he given any
more? He's clearly got plenty -- enough for Harry et al to hang on to
when they flew out of the Chamber of Secrets.

I thought Fawkes came to his rescue because Harry displayed loyalty to
Fawkes' master, Dumbledore. Fawkes arrived right after Harry retorted
that Dumbledore wasn't so gone as Riddle might think. As I was listening
to the audio versions later, I realized that Dumbledore told Harry that
"phoenixes make highly faithful pets, can carry immensely heavy loads
and their tears have healing powers."

What I want to know about Fawkes is how did he get *into* the Chamber
of Secrets without Ron seeing him? Ron acted as though he'd not seen
Fawkes before as they were leaving. And, Ron might not have even cleared
away enough rock for Fawkes to go that route at the time that he came
to Harry's aid. So, is there another entrance to the Chamber of Secrets?
