As I made my own robe and cape your assumption is both correct and
incorrect about these things that we wear- I am much like Hermione being
muggle born and the like. Traditional and ritual wear requires tunic like
"dress" that should be tied with a belt to hold whatever needs to be there
with a cape which should tie or other wise fasten around the neck and be
at least tea length. The concept of the pointed hat bothers me too as I
look stupid in one. I prefer a cape with a hood or if not that atleast
a head dress that is kept on by a crown of some sort, much prettier on
the ladies
