I'm going to have to disagree with you on this one. J.K. Rowling
herself has told people in interviews that it's pronounced with four
syllables. And I've listened to blurbs (from RandomHouse Audio Books
site) of the books-on-tape, and Jim Dale just sounds like he's running
the syllables together more than leaving one out. (In college, I had to
listen to countless tapes of people speaking in order to write them down
phonetically - I'm positive of this one.)
