I think we should expect to be surprised (is that a contradiction?) at
Harry's future mate. Look at _Little Women_: How many of you, while
reading the first half of it, would ever in a million years have dreamed
that Jo would end up marrying a middle-aged bearded German professor?

FWIW, I'm a Ron + Hermione person. (Please don't kill Ron off, JKR!)

As I like to frequently point out, I'm glad were allowed to have this
kind of discussion about love involving Harry and his collegues. In
the Oz world, the idea of any of the established characters falling
in love is considered "blasphemous" by Oz scholars. (A century hence,
will there be "Harry Potter Scholars"? Yeeech! I hope not.)
