My goodness, there were some "interesting" things going on here over
the weekend!

I have two points that I wish to address. First, to those youngsters who
log on and post messages to the adults assuming that we are "dissing"
the books: Please read the posts first, and you'll realize that we
love the books just as much as you do. Just because we are adults,
don't assume that we are "stodgy old fogeys." At heart, we're all just
a bunch of kids, too.

Which actually brings me to my second point: are we fans or fanatics? This
time I'd like to "talk" to the adults, my contemporaries. Let's see,
most of us have all three books and have pre-ordered the fourth, I know
that others have the books AND the tapes or CDs. We try to check the
board a few times a day. Several of us have plans for the launch of the
fourth book. I'm pretty sure that we can easily discuss events without
consulting our books; we have the characters' names memorized and also
what house they're in. Quite a number of us would turn down the car in
favor of the book (reference: car vs. book argument.) I could go on and
on. But we also have to realize that even though we love these books
and tend to have intelligent discussions about them, they ARE intended
for kids. I'm pretty sure that makes us fanatics. I hope I don't offend
anyone (remember I'm including myself in that number!)
