Hi:
Well, at the risk of alienating anyone else any further, I do feel
compelled to respond a bit further on this subject. I have put <g>
and other indications of friendly emotion into this message in the
hopes that I won't receive any more messages telling me I'm rude. <vbg>
I should also say that this is all *my opinion.*
<You will probably hate me now but I had to comment.>
No I don't hate you at all! You're perfectly free to express your opinions
after all. I would hope you'd extend me the same courtesy though. <g> And,
I do have some rather strong opinions on this subject. I also recognize
that my opinions are strong & *not* necessarily shared by others.
<The problem is, most of us have a hard enough time just typing these
messages out. I don't think people intend to be inconsiderate as you
call it. MOST people are typing for fun and not thinking about grammar.>
The basic point I'm trying to get across is this: if you post a message
that is all run together in lower case and full of typos and spelling
errors, then I have a hard time reading it AND understanding it. Maybe
I'm the only one, but I doubt it.
A bulletin board such as this relies on written communication. Yes, it is
for fun!! I agree wholeheartedly! There can be little doubt of its purpose
--but it's just no fun to *me* to try and wade through something that's
all run together and full of typos. It's just my opinion that if I can't
read or understand what you're trying to say, then you've essentially
wasted your time, because I won't be engaging in back & forth dialogue
with you (even though the substance of what you had to say might have
been quite interesting had I been able to understand your point). Well,
you've wasted your time if you consider back & forth dialogue with me
to be worthwhile that is. <vbg>
I always proof my own posts, and I find typos and grammar problems
(or just plain things I didn't
mean to say) in 9 out of 10 times. :--) By fixing my posts though --
I make it easier on people who are trying to read them and I communicate
my point more effectively.
You are free to ignore my suggestions for communicating more effectively
with this group. Just as I am free to ignore your posts if I am
consistently unable to read what you have to say. :--) I am bombarded
with far too heavy a load of email to try & wade through incomprehensible
messages (and I do have a life outside the internet as well).
Hoping I haven't stirred up a hornet's nest again -
Penny
