I rember a while back someone saying Harry never gave anyone gifts. I am
reading the books now, as I had only previously heard them on tape. The
Chamber of Secrets, At Flourish and Blotts, just before they meet
Draco. Harry is presented with all of the Lockhart series, and gives
them to Ginny, before buying his own.

There, he does give presents out.
