Okay, this was puzzling, but I think I assumed that when Snape referred
to Harry getting the map from the "manufacturers", he was commenting
on the fact that Harry had sneaked down the secret tunnel to Hogsmeade,
where he could have purchased a magic map from one of the shops.

Perhaps I'm off the beam though - I've only read PoA once so far and I
still have my 'L' plates on.
